Special Notices

This section will be used to share important service updates and alerts, including but not limited to boil water notices, low water pressure notifications, planned maintenance, and service interruptions. Residents are encouraged to check this page regularly for the most current information.

  • Current water and sewer rates along with applicable tap fees are available here. If you need tap installed, please contact Shane Dudley at shane.dudley@joe.com.

  • All homeowners in SummerCamp Beach are required to have a 2 HP grinder pump system installed. St James Island Utility utilizes a low-pressure sewer system and the 2 HP grinder pump is necessary to push sewage through the system out to the front of the property where the sewer tap will be located. The grinder pump acts like a kitchen garbage disposal, breaking down solid waste.

Never flush or pour grease, oil, sanitary products, diapers, “flushable” wipes, kitty litter, aquarium gravel or large amounts of cleaning chemicals down the drain.

Grinder pumps need electricity to function. During a power outage, minimize water usage (showering, laundry, dishwashing) because the tank has limited storage capacity.

Alarm Procedures: If a red light flashes and an audible alarm sounds on the exterior control box, it indicates a high-water condition. Residents should stop water usage immediately and call a plumber of their preference. The audible alarm can usually be silenced by pressing a button on the bottom of the panel, but the light will remain on until the pump is repaired and the water level drops.

Maintenance and repair of grinder pumps is the responsibility of the homeowner. If service is needed, please contact a licensed local plumber.
